Three Palestinian fishermen suffered injuries on Tuesday when Israeli naval forces attacked them off the shores of the besieged Gaza Strip.
According to the Fishermen Committees in Gaza, Israeli gunboats circled the fishing boat of Yaser al-Lahham during its presence within six nautical miles from the coast of Rafah area, south of Gaza, before spraying the boat with jets of water from cannons.
The naval occupation forces prevented the fishermen aboard the fishing boat from pulling up their net and tried to swamp the vessel with water, but luckily nearby fishermen intervened and used their boats to tow it away after its outboard motor stopped working when it was hit by jets of water from a gunboat.
The owner of the fishing boat, Yaser al-Lahham, was injured and two others suffered multiple bruises in the water cannon attack.
In addition to the damage which the boat and its motor sustained in the attack, the fishermen lost their net.
Israeli naval forces and their gunboats are around Gaza fishermen almost every day, harassing them, shooting at them, damaging their boats, and making arrests. Sometimes fishermen are injured or killed during gunfire attacks.
Under the 1993 Oslo accords, Palestinian fishermen are permitted to fish up to 20 nautical miles off the coast of Gaza, but since then Israel has kept reducing the fishing area gradually to a limit between six to three nautical miles as part of its blockade on Gaza.
Fishermen and human rights groups also say that since the 2008-09 war in Gaza, the Israeli army has been regularly enforcing a limit even closer to the shore.

Israeli army today notified a number of Palestinians in the northern Jordan Valley village of Fasayil of its intention to demolish their under–construction houses and animal barns under the pretext that they were built without Israeli permission, reported WAFA correspondent.
He pointed out that the Israeli military has been intensifying its policy of delivering demolition notices in the area as a way to forcibly displace Palestinians and to serve Israel’s colonial takeover of the land.
The Jordan Valley forms a third of the occupied West Bank, with 88 percent of its land classified as Area C – under full Israeli military control.
Israeli authorities rarely issue construction permits to Palestinians in the Jordan Valley, forcing many to build without permits in order to provide shelter for their families.

Israeli forces today destroyed pipelines that were supplying the northern Jordan Valley village of Bardala with irrigation water, according to Ziad Sawafta, deputy mayor of Bardala village council.
He told WAFA that Israeli forces regularly destroy the pipes supplying water for irrigation in Bardala, noting that the village suffers from water shortage due to Israel’s refusal to provide it with more than 100 cubic meters of water per hour when the needed amount is 240 cubic meters. video
He added that this harms the agricultural crops, which is the village’s main source of income.

Israeli navy today evening nabbed three Palestinian fishermen offshore from Gaza city, said sources.
Israeli navy ships intercepted a Palestinian fishing boat and nabbed three fishermen while fishing in Gaza waters.
They were taken to an unknown destination.
According to B’Tselem, the Israeli military “routinely” abuses fishermen “on various grounds,” explaining: “One reason alleged is boats sailing beyond the permitted area, even when fishermen use GPS devices and ensure they remain within the permitted boundaries.”
fishermen in Gaza suffer from Israel’s gradual destruction of the fishing sector in Gaza. Before it imposed the blockade on Gaza, Israel used to permit fishing up to 12 nautical miles from shore.
Since imposing the blockade, Israel has changed the permitted fishing zone several times a year, said B’Tselem, the Israeli information center for human rights in occupied territories.
As 31 Dec. 2018 it was nine nautical miles in the area south of Gaza City and six nautical miles in the area from Gaza City and northwards, up to the maritime boundary with Israel.
Limiting the permitted fishing zone reduces the variety and quantity of available fish, harming the livelihood of Gazan fishermen.
“Israel’s policy regarding the fishing sector in Gaza perfectly illustrates why its claim that it no longer bears responsibility for the residents and affairs in Gaza is divorced from reality.
The fact is that Israel continues to control many aspects of life in Gaza, at times from afar, and sometimes on the ground. Its actions have caused the fishing sector to collapse and left fishermen in Gaza in dire straits,” said the center.

Israeli War Minister Naftali Bennett’s decision to stop agricultural trade with the Palestinian Authority in the occupied West Bank came into force on Sunday morning.
Israeli channel 13 claimed, according to Al Ray, that Bennett’s decision was made allegedly in response to the Palestinian boycott of importing cattle and other livestock from Israel.
Last September, the Palestinian government announced a complete halt to the import of livestock from Israeli occupation.
It attributed the decision to its policy of economic disengagement from the “occupation economy.”

Israeli war minister Naftali Bennett decided last night to freeze entry of cement shipments to the besieged Gaza Strip in response to what he called daily Palestinian attacks on Israeli areas.
According to Maariv newspaper, the Israeli army gave instructions, at the behest of Bennett, to suspend cement exports to Gaza and withdraw permits from 500 cement dealers.
The measure, which is to take effect as of Sunday morning, was reportedly in response to daily Gaza attacks, which resumed recently after the Israeli occupation authority deliberately opened floodgates to dams and flooded vast tracts of farmlands and roads in the east of Gaza, causing considerable losses to the agricultural sector in particular.
