The soldiers surrounded the university, and fired dozens of rounds of live ammunition, rubber-coated steel bullets and gas bombs, during clashes with many Palestinians after the army invaded the campus.
Medical sources said six students suffered moderate wounds after the soldiers shot them with live rounds, thirteen others were shot with rubber-coated steel bullets, and scores suffered the effects of tear gas inhalation.
The Palestinians, who were shot with live fire, have been transferred to Thabet Thabet Hospital, in Tulkarem, and the rest received treatment by Red Crescent medics.
The University, also known as Kadoorie, has been the subject to repeated Israeli military invasions and clashes, especially since the army has a base that was established on lands illegally confiscated from it.

Palestinian university students staged a protest rally in Gaza City on Sunday calling on the Egyptian authorities to open the Rafah border crossing so that they can resume their studies abroad.
Student spokesman Muhammad Abu Taha urged the Egyptian authorities to open the Rafah border crossing, Gaza’s sole passageway, saying students’ interests and academic futures are being threatened by the constant closure of the crossing and by their inability to travel.
Abu Taha called on the Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman, Mahmoud Abbas, to urgently work on opening the Rafah crossing and restore Gazans’ right to free movement, as already guaranteed by international laws and treaties.
“The border crossing has been kept closed for all the days of the year, except for 20 days. Opening the crossing for one or two days does not solve the problem,” he added.
Many of the protesting Palestinian students expressed feelings of frustration, helplessness, and fear that their visas and academic scholarships might be cancelled.
Spokesman for the Islamic Bloc Muhammad al-Masri said over 25,000 stranded Palestinians are launching cries for help and appealing to the PA and the Egyptian authorities to unblock the passageway with no further hesitation before students and humanitarian cases.

Dozens of Palestinian university students choked on tear gas on Sunday morning as the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) showered Palestinian schools in southern al-Khalil province with randomly-shot spates of tear gas grenades.
Eyewitnesses said dozens of Palestinian students enrolled at schools adjacent to an Israeli military checkpoint sustained breathing disorders due to heavy inhalation of tear gas. The IOF sealed off the southern entrance to Bethlehem city, in the southern occupied West Bank, and allowed settlers’ free movement out of and into the area. The IOF soldiers further rolled into Bethlehem city at the crack of dawn before they kidnapped two Palestinian youths and misappropriated locals’ money. |
The Israeli soldiers, escorted by sniffer dogs, broke into the family home of citizen Awad Muhamad Abiyat, blew up its gates, and wreaked havoc on the building and other adjacent structures before they kidnapped his two sons Malek, 20, and Alaa, 24.
Abiyat’s family said the IOF soldiers stole 25,000 Jordanian dinars saved for the family’s commercial needs.
Abiyat’s wife and daughters were also subjected to offensive inspection and questioning in the assault.
Meanwhile, 10 Palestinians were kidnapped by the IOF following abrupt break-ins launched across al-Khalil province.

At least 29 kidnapped overnight
Dozens of Palestinians were injured Sunday, during clashes with Israeli forces across the occupied West Bank, while at least 29 Palestinians were kidnapped by Israeli forces, overnight.
Dozens were injured by rubber-coated metal bullets at the northern entrance of al-Bireh, according to WAFA Palestinian News & Info Agency.
Following a peaceful rally called for by the Fateh movement and national factions, which took off from the center of Ramallah to commemorate the International Day of Solidarity with Palestinians, clashes broke out between protestors and Israeli forces.
The Secretary of Fateh in Ramallah and al-Bireh, Mwaffaq Suhwahil, asserted that the event is a clear message to Israel that 'Fateh’ and the Palestinian people will continue to fight against the occupation until the establishment of independent state of Palestine with Jerusalem as its capital.'
Meanwhile, Israeli forces raided a kindergarten in Beit Ummar, to the south of Hebron, according to a local official.
Spokesperson of the anti settlement popular committee in Beit Ummar, Mohammed Awad, said that armed Israeli soldiers raided the kindergarten at dawn, after breaking down its main front door and windows.
He said that forces further destroyed the furniture, computers, and children’s belongings, and ripped up the tiles from one of the classrooms before withdrawing from the area.
The Israeli army has previously carried out numerous such attacks, with deliberate and reckless use of force, against schools and educational facilities across the West Bank, in a serious violation of international law and students’ right to pursue education in a safe environment.
To be noted, Defense for Children International (DCI) described the year 2014 as the most difficult year for Palestinian children, due to ongoing Israeli violations, mainly the 2014 summer aggression on the Gaza Strip.
The Global Coalition to protect Education from Attack also said, “During situations of armed conflict, attacks on education may violate international humanitarian and criminal law and constitute war crimes (or crimes against humanity during war or peacetime) as set out in the 1907 Hague Regulations, the 1949 Geneva Conventions and their Additional Protocols, the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, and customary international humanitarian law.”
Mohammad Awad, the coordinator of the popular committee against settlements and the Apartheid Wall in Beit Ummar, said that clashes also broke out in the al-Thaher area, near the illegal settlement of Karmei Tzur, where Israeli soldiers fired teargas canisters in the direction of Palestinian houses, resulting in suffocation cases.

PRC reported that three students lost consciousness due to excessive tear gas inhalation, which necessitated their transfer to hospital for treatment.
Since the beginning of unrest in October 2015, the university has been a scene of renewing clashes between Israeli troops and Palestinians students, which have resulted in numerous injury cases and affected daily classes.
Israeli forces, overnight, abducted at least 29 Palestinians, including minors, from across various West Bank districts, according to the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS).
PPS said that at least 15 Palestinians were detained from the Hebron area, 11 of whom were identified as Turkey al-A’lami, 37, Mohammed Abu Jhaisheh, 21, Mohammed Swaiti, Mo’ath Masalmeh, Mohammed Masharqa, Ayman and Mohammed Masharqa, Khalil Dasseh, 23, 26-year-old Ashraf and Amjad, 26, al-Qadi, in addition to Mohammed, 19, and Mohannad,17, Awad. The identity of the remaining four remains unknown until the moment.
In al-Bireh and Ramallah, forces kidnapped five Palestinians, including a 52-year-old mother of a Palestinian detainee held in Israeli jails, as she was on her way to visit her imprisoned son.
The five were identified as Nada Shokeh, 52, and Fadi Atallah, 17, in addition to three brothers identified as Ahmad, 19, Mahmoud, 21, and Mohannad, 17, Salahat.
Forces further took two more Palestinians from the Nablus area. They were identified as Mohammed Khader, and Ja’afar Ramadan.
In Tulkarem, army soldiers detained minor Ismail I’tair from the village of Faro’un.
In the meantime, forces served a number of Palestinian youths from Qabatiya, to the south of Jenin, with notices ordering them to appear before Israeli intelligence, at Salem military camp, in Jenin.

A group of Israeli settlers attacked Monday morning a Palestinian primary school with stones near Kiryat Arba settlement south of al-Khalil.
The school Headmaster Hisham Qawasmi told a PIC reporter that settlers from the nearby Israeli settlement of Kiryat Arba stoned the school, pointing out that several military checkpoints were erected in the surrounding areas.
The school, that has more than 340 students, is frequently subjected to similar attacks and violent raids at the hands of Israeli settlers and soldiers, he added.
A similar attack was reported in Nablus when a group of settlers stoned a secondary school in Burin town south of the city.
Nearly 20 Israeli settlers stoned Sunday afternoon the school in an attempt to break into it.
The school was evacuated following the settlers’ attack.
Israeli forces rushed to the area and heavily fired tear gas bombs towards the students.
Israeli settlers have escalated their attacks against Palestinians in the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem over the past two months, amid growing tension and ongoing clashes between Palestinian youths and Israeli soldiers.
In this regard, the Israeli Human Rights Center B’Tselem said that “Palestinians are left unprotected not due to any lack of legal means, but because the authorities employ an unofficial yet longstanding policy of leniency and lack of law enforcement on violent settlers.”

Israeli minister of education Naftali Bennett has issued an order banning the activities of the Islamic Movement in the 1948 occupied lands at all Israeli academic institutions.
In a verdict circulated to heads of Israeli universities on Friday, Bennett demanded them to immediately prevent any activity held within Israeli academia by students affiliated with the Islamic Movement, which the Israeli government last week declared to be illegal.
"We have taken the Islamic Movement out of the realm of legality, and now it is clear that there is no place for it in academic institutions in Israel."
"I expect all academic leaders to take responsibility, to understand the dangers involved and to cooperate with the government," the Israeli minister said in his decision.

Some 230 Palestinian schoolchildren have appealed to the Israeli occupation authorities (IOA) to restore the bags of which they were robbed right after their detention in early October.
Head of the Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS) in al-Khalil, Amjad al-Najar, said in a press statement: “Scores of newly-released children, along with their families, appealed to the PPS to retrieve their bags.”
“We’ve got used to appeals to restore prisoners’ money, IDs, or mobile devices. But the day has come when children are demanding their schoolbags,” al-Najar stated.
He spoke out against the personal and intellectual repercussions of such Israeli policies on the children’s psyche and career.
He further warned of the arbitrary interrogation summonses frequently issued by the IOA against Palestinian children and the prerequisite to have those very children handed to Israeli investigation centers by their parents.
“The intent is just as clear as daylight: The IOA aims at distorting image of the father and mother as their child’s source of protection and bulletproof vest,” he said, calling on Palestinian families to never yield in to such malevolent schemes.
