22 Jordanian lawmakers on Sunday called on their government to curb what they called excesses committed by the management of the UNRWA in Jordan, especially its removal of Palestine maps and Jerusalem photos from its schools.
In a letter addressed to premier Hani al-Mulki, the lawmakers accused UNRWA director Roger Davies of disrespecting the Palestinian identity and ignoring the rightful demands of the agency’s employees in Jordan, according to Quds Press.
They stated that the UNRWA worked, at the behest of Davies, on shrinking the services it provides for the Palestinian refugees in Jordan and removed Palestine maps and Jerusalem photos from its schools in Jordan.
The MPs warned that such “unacceptable” practices by the UNRWA would lead to undesirable consequences, calling for taking strict steps to have the agency reverse its recent measure in schools and fulfill its obligations towards the employees and refugees in Jordan in order to protect the national peace.

"Netanayhu and Israeli ambassador to Amman meet with Ziv Moyal, who shot dead two Jordanians"
Israel has notified the Jordanian government of its decision to freeze the Red Sea-Dead Sea Canal project until Israeli diplomats are allowed to return to their embassy in Amman.
Israel and Jordan agreed in 2015 to begin work on the canal project, which will convey potable water to both sides. The project aims to bring water from the Red Sea to stabilize the level of the Dead Sea and set up a desalination facility in Aqaba of Jordan.
According to the Hebrew Channel 10, Israel’s foreign ministry and its national security council do not want their government to go ahead with the canal project signed with Jordan as long as the Jordanian side does not allow Israeli ambassador Einat Schlein and her diplomatic corps to return to Amman.
The channel quoted the foreign ministry as saying that Israel might agree to apologize for what happened in Amman if the Jordanian King redressed the situation and allowed the embassy to reopen.
Last July, Jordan charged an Israeli embassy guard with murder for shooting dead two Jordanians at the embassy compound in Amman.
The Jordanian prosecution also charged the guard with illegal possession of a firearm.
The slain Jordanians were described at the time as a furniture delivery boy and an owner of an apartment rented by the Israeli embassy.
The shooting sparked a diplomatic crisis after the Israeli government called the Jordanian victims attackers and treated the shooter as a hero.

Jordan has informed the Israeli government of its refusal of the entry of the Israeli Ambassador to the country.
Israel’s Channel 2 said Jordan still refuses the re-entry of the Israeli Ambassador after the Israeli embassy’s security guard who shot and killed two Jordanian citizens showed up with the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Israel.
Jordan called on the Israeli government to appoint a new Ambassador to Amman.
Israel’s Channel 2 claimed that preliminary investigations found out the guard was attacked for nationalistic reasons and will not be brought to court.

Jordan has condemned the renewed Israeli violations in occupied Jerusalem, the last of which was the storming of al-Aqsa Mosque by settlers and Jewish extremists on the occasion of Jewish holidays.
State Minister for Media Affairs Mohammad Momani said that “such irresponsible and rejected behaviors by Israeli authorities, constitute acts of provocation of Muslims' feelings.”
Momani, who is also the government spokesperson, said that Israel, the occupying force, must respect international conventions.
"Such behaviors harm relations between the two countries and undermine efforts to ease tension and preserve the historical and legal status of al-Aqsa Mosque," the minister said, adding that they also undermine international efforts to resume Palestinian-Israeli peace talks.
Momani urged the Israeli government to put an end to such provocative acts and respect Jordan's role as custodian of the holy sites in Jerusalem.

The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) in Jordan has dropped its contracts with the world’s largest security firm, occupation profiteer G4S, following an ongoing BDS campaign over the firm’s role in Israel’s violations of human rights, Jordan BDS has reported.
Jordan BDS said it welcomes UN Women’s decision and salutes the agency for taking a principled step in line with its core values of promoting human rights and human dignity. Accordingly, UN Women has become the fifth UN agency in Jordan to drop its contracts with occupation profiteer G4S alongside WFP, UNOPS, UNICEF and UNHCR.
G4S has a track record in human and refugee rights violations in many countries across the world, which led dozens of universities, unions, pension funds and more to drop their contracts with the company as well as divest their shares from it following calls by the BDS movement worldwide.
The #UNDropG4S campaign began in 2015, in which Jordan BDS took an active part through organizing actions and lobbying with different UN agencies, the latest of which was a demonstration outside UN Women office in Amman in commemorating Nakba in partnership with multiple Jordanian civil society organizations.
Jordan BDS demanded the local and regional offices of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP and UNDP MENA) – the last UN office in Jordan to hold contracts with G4S – to follow the lead of the five UN agencies before it that showed a firm commitment to human rights. Its demand is based on UN documents, which it said UNDP is breaching, including the UN Supplier Code of Conduct, the UN Special Rapporteur for OPT report, and the UN Global Compact.
Jordan BDS also said that it is truly shocking that UNDP persists with its breach until now and continues to dismiss the values and principles that the agency itself proclaims to defend.
Jordan BDS confirmed that its campaign against G4S will continue, in parallel with the regional campaigns in Lebanon, Kuwait and Morocco as well as globally, until G4S stops profiting from the occupation and fully withdraws from its remaining contracts in Israel including its agreement with the Israeli Police Academy (Policity) in Occupied Jerusalem.
