The Palestinian Education Ministry documented Israeli violations against 89,799 Palestinian learners and 5,528 teaching staff members in 2016.
According to a Tuesday report by the Palestinian Ministry of Education, 26 Palestinian learners were killed by the Israeli occupation forces while 1,810 others and 101 instructors and employees were left wounded.
At the same time, 198 learners and teaching staff members were arrested by the Israeli forces.
The report further documented Israeli attacks against 162 Palestinian schools. The attacks were carried out using live ammunition, teargas canisters or/and rubber bullets. As a result several schools have been partially or totally put out of operation.
Crackdowns at Israeli-run checkpoints led to the suspension of 4,878 classes.
Seven learners enrolled at Jerusalem schools, along with a staff member, were, meanwhile, subjected to house confinement.
60 schools had also been subjected to aggressive assaults by the Israeli army using teargas grenades and bullet fire. Cases of heavy beating against schoolchildren and tutors had also been recorded during those attacks.
Nine demolition or stop construction orders were also handed out to a number of Palestinian schools across the occupied territories.
The Education Ministry appealed to all human rights institutions to take urgent action vis-à-vis such Israeli aggressions and to expose Israel’s incessant violations of international law and of Palestinians’ right to free and safe education.

The Israeli Supreme Court approved on Thursday the closure of an elementary school in Occupied Jerusalem claiming that its curriculums incite against Israel.
The Israeli Ministry of Education and police closed al-Nukhba school which has 220 students enrolled in its classes, claiming that their founders support Hamas Movement and its curriculums incite against Israel, according to Israeli TV channel 2.
The Israeli Ministry of Education, according to channel 2, issued a closure order for the school, which was handed to its headmaster, Loai Bkairat, who refused the order and filed a complaint to the Israeli police. However, the headmaster was arrested on Thursday for investigation but was released later with certain conditions.
For its part, the school administration described this order as unjustified, and said, “We will fight as long as we can in order to reverse this unjust decision which aims at displacing students and destroying their school which received all temporary licenses at the beginning of the school year”.
Naftali Bennett, the Israeli Minister of Education, threatened to close any school that “incites against Israel”.

The Israeli occupation authorities (IOA) notified on Sunday the demolition and evacuation of about 40 Palestinian Bedouin facilities east of occupied Jerusalem.
Jamil Hamadein told al-Quds Press news agency that a number of military vehicles as well as crews from the Israeli "Civil Administration" broke into Khan al-Ahmar Bedouin village in the early morning hours and announced it a closed military zone.
Hamadein said that the Civil Administration crews handed the Palestinian families living in the village 40 demolition notices for residential facilities, sheep barns, a school and a mosque under the pretext of being unlicensed.
For its part, the Palestinian Authority's Ministry of Education and Higher Education warned of demolishing the school of Khan al-Ahmar which serves a number of Bedouin communities in the outskirts of occupied Jerusalem.
The Minister of Education and Higher Education, Sabri Saydam, said in a press release issued by the ministry that IOA officials broke into the school, threatened to demolish it or remove some of its rooms, and blocked entry of teachers and students. He added that this procedure falls in line with a series of systematic and regular attacks against the school.
Saydam called on all international institutions and organizations to "immediately intervene to stop these inhumane practices, protect the educational process, ensure the students' right of safe education, and put a limit to the Israeli racist policies and arbitrary decisions."
He stressed that the Palestinian children's right of education is stronger than the Israeli tyranny, adding, "We will maintain the educational process and our students will learn in caravans, tents and under trees. Nations of the free world and international institutions must support them to get this right."
The IOA seeks to displace dozens of Palestinian families from the Bedouin communities east of occupied Jerusalem in a prelude to expand the Israeli settlements in the region especially Ma'ale Adumim which is built on the lands of al-Eizariya and Abu Dis towns.
