Action group: Two Palestinian refugees died yesterday in Yarmouk camp
The action group for the Palestinians in Syria said that two Palestinian refugees were killed on Monday in Al-Yarmouk refugee camp. The action group explained that Samer Al-Nader was killed during a projectile attack on Al-Yarmouk camp, while Khalil Mousa died of serious wounds he had sustained three days ago in a mortar attack on the same camp.
It added that a number of citizens, including a child, also sustained injuries during the attacks on the refugee camp yesterday.
The Syrian regime forces have been imposing a tight blockade on the camp for 84 days and preventing the access of many vital needs.
Other refugee camps in Syria like Al-Husseiniya and Khan Younis also see daily attacks and are tightly besieged by the regime forces.
In a related context, the homeless children campaign said that about 450 homes in Al-Yarmouk camp are completely destroyed and uninhabitable, while more than 500 others sustained partial damage, affirming that about 1,000 Palestinian families have no homes even if they decide to return to the camp.

PA Heads to Syria to Stop Attacks on Palestinians
By Khald Abu Toameh, Jerusalem Post
A high-level Palestinian Authority delegation headed to Damascus on Sunday, 10 February, in a bid to stop attacks on Palestinian refugees in Syria.
This is the first time that a PA delegation has visited Syria since the beginning of the crisis there two years ago.
Relations between the PA and the Syrian regime have deteriorated in the wake of the Palestinians’ failure to support President Bashar Assad in his war against the opposition.
Headed by top PLO official Zakaria al-Agha, the delegation is expected to discuss ways of stopping the fighting between Assad’s forces and the rebels in the Yarmouk refugee camp near Damascus.
Dozens of Palestinian residents of the camp have been killed in fierce fighting that erupted between the two sides in recent weeks.
More than half of the camp’s 130,000 residents have fled their homes in the past two months, according to Palestinian sources.
The PA officials will ask both the Syrian government and rebels to withdraw their forces from the camp and its surroundings in order to pave the way for the return of the refugees to their homes, the sources said.
The officials are also expected to ask the Syrian authorities to restore PLO-owned buildings that had been confiscated by the Syrians over the past three decades.
The Syrians had confiscated the buildings and handed them over to Damascus-based Palestinian groups opposed to the PLO leadership.
The Palestinian delegation is also expected to visit tens of thousands of Palestinians who fled from Syria to Lebanon because of the fighting.

Shelling and blockade continue to plague refugee camps in Syria
Daraa camp for Palestinian refugees in Syria witnessed heavy shelling that led to a state of panic and material damage, the workgroup for Palestinians in Syria stated in a report on Friday. The residents in Daraa camp are still suffering from the blockade and the continued power outages and the lack of foodstuffs and medicines.
The workgroup said that two young men from al-Hassineh refugee camp were found dead on Friday after being shot by snipers.
The Hussineh camp has been under blockade for 75 days. The Syrian security forces were not letting medical supplies or food into the camp, and bakeries and pharmacies have stopped working due to the blockade, activists said.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian workgroup said that clashes broke out in the vicinity of the Danon camp, whose population is still suffering from an acute shortage in drinking water and food, continued power outages and price hikes.
Separately, a massive fire broke out in Yarmouk refugee camp that almost ran out of control due to a lack of necessary equipment to extinguish it. Snipers attacked people trying to put out the blaze, according to the workgroup.

Syria Files Complaint Against Israel For Bombing Syrian Territory
Syrian Ambassador to the United Nations filed, on Thursday evening, an official complaint against Israel for bombarding a site in the country, and for violating Syrian airspace.
Syrian Ambassador to the UN, Bashar Al-Ja’fary, sent a letter to the United Nations and its Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, stating the Israeli Air Force violated Syrian Airspace, and bombarded a Syrian Research Facility.
The Israeli attack took place more than a week ago; Israel claims that it targeted what it called “a weapons convoy heading to Lebanon”, but Syria stated that the Israeli Air Force bombarded a military scientific center in a suburban area near the Syrian capital, Damascus.
Two persons were killed, and several others were injured.
Israeli security officials claimed that the target was a
convoy “carrying weapons that could change the rules of the game in the region”, including advanced Russian Sam 17 surface-to-air missiles that Syria was allegedly transporting to the Lebanon-based Hezbollah party.
Syrian sources reported that the Israeli Air Force snuck into Lebanon by flying over the Jabal Al-Sheikh (referred to as Mount Hermon) area, at a low altitude in order to avoid being detected by Syrian radars, and headed to the Jimraya area, in the Damascus countryside, where a Syrian scientific research facility is located, and bombarded it.
The Israeli missiles led to the death of two persons, while at least five others have been injured, and caused significant damage to the building and several nearby buildings, including a parking structure.
Also, the Lebanese army reported that the Israeli Air Force violated the Lebanese Airspace 16 times on Tuesday January 29, between 09:30 in the morning, and 02.00 on Wednesday at dawn.

No truth to reports of Israel targeting convoy, Syrian envoy says
Bashar al-Ja’afari, the Syrian ambassador to the United Nations
The Syrian ambassador to the UN says there is ‘no truth’ to the reports that the recent Israeli attack on a research center near Damascus targeted a convoy heading to Lebanon.
“Syria emphasizes that there is no truth to the media reports asserting that the Israeli aircraft had targeted a convoy that was heading from Syria to Lebanon,” Bashar al-Ja’afari stated in letters to the rotating presidency of the UN Security Council and the UN secretary general. The letters were circulated on Thursday.
According to the Syrian army, two people were killed and five others injured in the airstrike that was carried out on January 30.
Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah strongly condemned the attack and said it was “barbaric aggression.”
The Syrian envoy added that the Israeli aircraft flew at a low attitude to avoid the radar and bombed the research center in Jamraya, near the capital.
“The attack caused destruction and substantial material damage not only to the center, but also to the adjacent technical development center and a parking garage,” Ja’afari said.
He added that the Israeli attack followed several failed attempts by militant groups in Syria to take control of the research center.
The airstrike “occurred after Israel, in cooperation with states hostile to the Syrian people, had ordered its lackeys inside the country to strike selected vital Syrian military sites,” the Syrian ambassador stated.
The Syrian Foreign Ministry has urged the Security Council to issue a “clear condemnation of the flagrant Israeli attack on the territories of a sovereign state and the Israeli violation of the UN Charter, the international law, the Disengagement of Forces Agreement in 1974 and the relevant UNSC resolutions.”
Russia has also reacted to the Israeli attack, saying if the information on the airstrike was confirmed, “Then we are dealing with unprovoked strikes against targets located on the territory of a sovereign state, which brazenly infringes on the UN Charter and is unacceptable, no matter the motive used for its justification.”

Israel deserves tough boycott for Syria strike: Lebanese FM
Lebanese Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour has censured the recent Israeli airstrike on a military research center near the Syrian capital of Damascus, saying Israel ‘deserves a tough response’ for the attack.
On Sunday, Mansour said that aggression against Syria "is aggression against Lebanon." He added, "Israel deserves harsh responses and a tough boycott on the economic, political and diplomatic levels."
"Israeli jets continue to invade Lebanon's airspace every day. We must stand up against the Israeli attacks but not just with calls, statements and condemnation." Mansour stated.
On January 31, Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah also condemned the Israeli attack and said it was “barbaric aggression.”
The Syrian army said in a statement on January 30 that two people were killed and five others injured in an Israeli airstrike on the research center in Jamraya, located 25 kilometers (15 miles) northwest of Damascus.
Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011. Many people, including large numbers of security forces, have been killed in the turmoil.
The Syrian government says the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country, and there are reports that a very large number of the militants are foreign nationals.

Radwan: The refugees' crisis in Lebanon will end after their return to Palestine
Palestinian minister of religious affairs Ismail Radwan said the suffering of the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon can only be solved by their return to their homeland, stressing that their stay in refugee camps is temporary. During a visit to the tented camp in Sur town on Saturday, Radwan called on the international community to necessarily assume its humanitarian responsibilities towards the Palestinian evacuees from Syria.
Radwan visited the camp in order to give the evacuees financial and in-kind aid financed by donations collected from Gaza people.
The minister noted that the harsh living conditions inside the Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon has become worse than ever after the influx of thousands of refugees who fled their camps in Syria.
The minister called on the Lebanese government to allow hundreds of displaced Palestinians to cross into Lebanon and stay there temporarily until they can return to their refugee camps in Syria.
He also appealed to it to grant the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon the right to education, employment, health and ownership in order for them to live decent lives, emphasizing that this is an impermanent situation until Palestine is liberated from the occupation.

UK: Israeli raid on Syria is justified
British Foreign Secretary William Hague claims the Israeli regime’s violation of Syria’s airspace in the air raid on a Syrian army research center is a “reaction” to the Syrian crisis rather than a breach of the country's sovereignty.
“I’m not going to give any condemnation of Israel, rushing to any criticism,” Hague told the BBC.
In a clear attempt to whitewash the Israeli aggression, Hague further claimed that Israel has rightfully reacted to the situation in Syria.
“We have a whole massive situation in Syria to deal with … So I think we should keep our eyes on the main event, on the main crisis,” he said.
“IF it affects neighboring countries they would react in various ways, we have to get to the root causes of it and the root cause of the Syria crisis is not Israel,” he added.
This comes as Britain had initially avoided reacting to the airstrike on the research center in northwest of the Syrian capital of Damascus that killed two people and injured several others in full violation of the international law.
The raid has been condemned by Iran, China and Russia with Russians calling it an "unjustified assault" and a "blatant violation of the UN Charter."
This is while analysts believe the attack has been exactly opposite to what Hague has tried to pretend it is, that is an Israeli act of provocation to drag Syria into de facto war that would give the west an excuse for direct military intervention in the Middle Eastern country.
Following the strike, the Syrian army accused Tel Aviv of being behind the unrest in the country.
Syria has formally complained to the United Nations over the Israeli fighter jets’ attack.
Meanwhile, Britain has been playing a major role in fanning the flames of unrest in Syria by providing support for terrorists who are killing innocent civilians in the country.
Hague reiterated that stance in his interview with the BBC, saying London will “keep increasing the support, the practical support we give to the [Syrian] opposition.”

The Iranian legislator added that the aerial attack proved that Israel, together with the US and certain Arab and regional countries, are seeking to unseat President Bashar al-Assad's government.
The Israeli regime decided to try and hurt the Syrian government after the failure of its allies to overthrow the government in Damascus, Haqiqatpour stated.
He added that the recent Israeli airstrike on a Syrian scientific center flagrantly violated international law given the fact that Israel’s fighter jets violated Syrian airspace.
Haqiqatpour further highlighted that it is up to the Syrian nation and government to decide whether to respond to the Israeli aggression politically, legally or militarily.
He also criticized the UN for its refusal to condemn the Israeli attack, calling on international organizations to adopt punitive measures against Israel and force Tel Aviv to pay Damascus compensation for its latest raid on the country.
The Syrian Army said in a statement on Wednesday that two people were killed and five others injured in an Israeli airstrike on a scientific center in Jamraya, located 25 kilometers (15 miles) northwest of the capital Damascus.
Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011. Many people, including large numbers of security forces, have been killed in the turmoil.
The Syrian government says the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country, and there are reports that a very large number of the militants are foreign nationals.

Syria Reacts to Air Strike
Syria threatened Thursday to retaliate for an Israeli air strike, and its ally Iran said the Jewish state would regret the attack.
Syria sent a letter to the U.N. secretary-general stressing the country's "right to defend itself, its territory and sovereignty" and holding Israel and its supporters accountable.
"Israel and those who protect it at the Security Council are fully responsible for the repercussions of this aggression," the letter from Syria's Foreign Ministry said.
U.S. officials said Israel launched a rare air strike inside Syria on Wednesday targeting a convoy carrying antiaircraft weapons bound for Hezbollah, the powerful Lebanese militant group allied with Syria and Iran.
In Israel, a lawmaker close to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stopped short of confirming involvement in the strike. But he hinted that Israel could carry out similar missions in the future.
The attack has inflamed regional tensions already running high over Syria's 22-month-old civil war.
Israeli leaders in the days leading up to the air strike had publicly expressed concern that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad may be losing his grip on the country and its arsenal of conventional and nonconventional weapons.
The Syrian military denied there was any such weapons convoy. It said low-flying Israeli jets crossed into the country over the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights and bombed a scientific research center.
A U.S. official said the air strike targeted trucks containing sophisticated Russian-made SA-17 antiaircraft missiles. The trucks were next to the military research facility identified by the Syrians, and the strike hit both the trucks and the facility, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak about the operation.

Israeli Airstrike in Syria and Chemical Weapons False Flag
Chemical weapons false flag? Israel had reportedly been planning for several days the airstrike to hit a shipment of sophisticated weaponry -- allegedly including chemical weapons and Russian-made anti-aircraft missiles -- bound for Hezbollah in Lebanon. "This episode boils down to a warning by Israel to Syria and Hezbollah not to engage in the transfer of sensitive weapons," a regional security source told Reuters. So far none of the officials in Israel or other concerned parties have pinpointed the exact location and target of the airstrike. The anonymous diplomatic sources however have told Reuters that chemical weapons were believed to be stored at the Jamraya research center, although the vehicles in convoy were unlikely to be carrying them. |
Israeli officials have said repeatedly they fear Assad losing his grip on his chemical weapons stockpile. But Dr. Ali Mohamad believes the chemical weapons danger was just a pretext to destroy Syria's military research centers to ensure that Damascus can't produce arms for its military or to ship to its allies in the region.
"Military research centers are responsible for developing weapons in particular land-to-land long range missiles," he explained. "And what Israel wants is to stop this research and stop this process. And of course Israel will claim that this is connected to a chemical weapons arsenal, but this is of course not true because nobody stores chemical weapons in a research center."
Everybody who lives in Syria knows "that this is not at all about chemical weapons," Mohamad said.
"Let's remember that the Syrian official who was responsible for all military research projects has been assassinated in Damascus by the rebels," he explained. "Let's also remember that the person who orchestrated the Syrian long-range missile project colonel Dawoud Rajiha was also assassinated in Damascus. This is about stopping the Syrian scientific military research projects and is about breaking the link that will help [Israel] overcome the Lebanese resistance and the Palestinian resistance."

3 Palestinian Martyrs in Syria
Three Palestinian refugees in Syria have been martyred in the continuing attack by the regime's army on Palestinian refugee camps. The working group for the Palestinian refugees in Syria stated that the three Palestinian martyrs are Ahmad Nawaf al-Tfori, Mohammed Nimer Hussein, and Mohammed Rafi.
The Working Group stated that the truce agreement is still holding in Husseiniyeh camp, while Khan Dannoun camp has witnessed fire incident for the first time leading to an injury among the residents, in addition to the kidnapping of Ghassan Ibrahim with his car by an unidentified armed group.
The group added that the Yarmouk camp still suffers from a siege imposed by the regular army for 39 days in a row, depriving it from food, heating and medical supplies, where the camp's residents are subjected to ill-treatment and insults at the barrier located at the camp’s entrance.
Furthermore, the Working Group revealed that President Assad issued a presidential decree on January 14, preventing Palestinian refugees in Syria to take advantage of the previous educational grants law.
The group said in a statement on Wednesday that this measure is considered a precedent in the presidential decrees since 1956, and the second legal action after the Syrian Ministry of Education's decision in November to exclude Palestinians from government jobs.
The presidential decree issued by the Syrian Arab Republic President on January 14 deprived the Palestinian refugees in Syrian from educational grants, where it only enables Syrian students to get such grants, according to the Working Group’s statement.

Israeli regime deploying forces on Syria border: Syria TV
Syria’s state television says the Israeli regime is deploying military forces on the Syrian border.
The move comes a day after an Israeli airstrike reportedly targeted a defense research center near the Syrian capital city of Damascus, killing two people and injuring five others.
On Thursday, Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah strongly condemned the Israeli regime’s aerial assault on its neighboring Arab country, describing it as a “barbaric aggression.”
Russia also voiced concerns about the incident earlier on Thursday, saying, “If this information is confirmed, then we are dealing with unprovoked strikes against targets located on the territory of a sovereign state, which brazenly infringes on the UN Charter and is unacceptable, no matter the motive used for its justification.”

US-Israeli claims on Syria full of inconsistency: Gordon Duff
An analyst says the US and Israeli claims that Tel Aviv jets have bombed a convoy of Weapons in Syria are full of inconsistency. He also added that Israel had become increasingly disaffected in the region. In the background of this Syria has accused Israel of violating its airspace and carrying out a dawn airstrike that hit a scientific research facility near Damascus. The attack came after foreign-backed militants failed to capture the site. Israel claimed earlier that it had targeted a convoy of chemical weapons through Syria. Press TV has interviewed Gordon Duff, Senior Editor of Veterans Today, Ohio about this issue. |

Hezbollah strongly condemns Israeli airstrike on Syria research centerLebanese resistance movement Hezbollah has condemned the Israeli regime’s aerial assault that targeted a research center near the Syrian capital.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Hezbollah described the Israeli regime’s attack on Syria as “barbaric,” saying it “strongly condemns this new Zionist aggression,” which revealed its true intention towards Lebanon’s neighbor. On Wednesday, the Syrian army said two people were killed and five others injured in an Israeli airstrike on a research center in Jamraya, near the capital, Damascus. Israel declined to comment on the issue. The airstrike “openly reveals [Israel’s] motives toward [unrest] in Syria over the past two years and the criminal thinking aimed at destroying Syria and its army and eliminating its pivotal resistance and rejectionist role to pave the way for unfolding the chapters of a major conspiracy against [Syria] and against our Arab and Muslim peoples,” the statement said. The resistance movement further called for widespread condemnation of the attack. “What happened in Syria ... requires a massive, widespread condemnation campaign by the international community and all Arab and Islamic countries,” the statement read. Hezbollah also reiterated its support for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and urged caution over the airstrike. “Hezbollah which expresses full solidarity with Syria, its army and people, underlines the need for some to be aware of the dangers behind the attack." Earlier in the day, Russia also expressed concerns about the incident, saying, “If this information is confirmed, then we are dealing with unprovoked strikes against targets located on the territory of a sovereign state, which brazenly infringes on the UN Charter and is unacceptable, no matter the motive used for its justification.” Russia says ‘deeply concerned’ over Israeli airstrike in SyriaFile photo shows the scene of a bomb attack near the Syrian capital, Damascus.
Russia has expressed concern over a recent airstrike carried out by the Israeli regime, which Syria says targeted a military research center near Damascus. The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a Thursday statement that Moscow was “deeply concerned” about reports of the airstrike deep inside Syria. Russia condemns the “unprovoked” aggression of the Tel Aviv regime if the information proves true, the statement added. On Wednesday, the Syrian army said two people were killed and five others injured in an Israeli airstrike on a research center in Jamraya, near the capital, Damascus. Israel declined to comment on the issue. Moscow said it was taking “urgent measures” to clarify the situation. “We once again call on the end to all violence in Syria, underscoring the inadmissibility of any type of intervention from abroad, and the start of inter-Syrian dialogue based on the Geneva agreements of June 30, 2012.” In June 2012, foreign ministers from Britain, China, France, Russia, and several other countries, and the US secretary of state, held a meeting in Geneva to discuss the unrest in Syria. The participants agreed on a transitional governing body in Syria that “could include members of the present government and the opposition and other groups, and shall be formed on the basis of mutual consent.” |
On January 12, Russia also said, “As in the past, we firmly support a premise that issues of Syria’s future should be solved by Syrians themselves, without outside interference and the imposition of ready-made recipes.”

File photo shows smoke billowing over Damascus after a bomb ripped through the city
The Syrian Army says two people have been killed and five others injured in an Israeli airstrike on a scientific research center in Jamraya, near the capital Damascus.
"Israeli fighter jets violated our airspace at dawn today and carried out a direct strike on a scientific research center in charge of raising our level of resistance and self-defence," the Syrian Army said in a statement on Wednesday, AFP reported.
The attack was carried out against the center, which was tasked with boosting Syria’s resistance and self-defense, "after terrorist groups made several failed attempts in the past months to take control of the site."
"This assault is one of a long list of acts of aggression and criminality against the Arabs and Muslims," the statement added.
"They... carried out an act of aggression, bombarding the site, causing large-scale material damage and destroying the building," the army said.
The Israeli regime claimed earlier that it had targeted a convoy of chemical weapons in Syria.
Syria has been experiencing unrest since mid-March 2011. Many people, including large numbers of security personnel, have been killed in the violence.
The Syrian government says the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country, and there are reports that a very large number of the militants fighting the Syrian government are foreign nationals.
And several international human rights organizations have accused the foreign-sponsored militants of committing war crimes.

Palestinian youth killed in Syria amidst continued shelling of refugee camps
A Palestinian youth from Yarmouk refugee camp was killed in Syria on Tuesday during clashes on the Diraa road. The workgroup for Palestinians in Syria said in a statement on Wednesday that inhabitants of Khan Al-Sheeh refugee camp were experiencing a state of anxiety after the Syrian regular army kidnapped many of them lately while riding public buses amid threats of more such kidnappings.
It said that violent clashes were reported in the early morning hours on Wednesday between the regular and free Syrian armies in the Yarmouk refugee camp in which light and medium weapons were used.
It said that Husseiniya refugee camp, the poorest in Syria, was still under siege for the 62nd day with no foodstuffs, medicines or heating materials allowed access.
Meanwhile, a British-European parliamentary delegation is expected to arrive in Lebanon in early February to get acquainted with the humanitarian conditions of Palestinian refugees fleeing Syria to Lebanon.
The parliamentarians’ solidarity visit would also contribute in informing the world community with those refugees’ suffering and pressure for alleviating their suffering.
The visit is organized by the council of Palestinian-European relations in Brussels, the Palestinian return center in London, and Thabet organization for the right of return for Palestinian refugees in Lebanon.

The minister said that the campaign aimed at helping “our Palestinian brothers” who experience very difficult living conditions.
He said that the campaign proved that the people in Gaza, despite the siege, still feel with and support their brethren who were forced to leave Syria due to the violence that has been sweeping that Arab country for almost two years.
Radwan is scheduled to arrive in Lebanon on Thursday and distribute the 100000 dollars collected in that campaign during visits to those refugees.

Israel refuses the entry of Palestinian refugees from Syria into West Bank
The Israeli government denied receiving an official request from the Palestinian Authority to allow entry of 150 Palestinian refugees from Syria into the West Bank. Israeli media sources said that PA chief Mahmoud Abbas had tabled a request with the Israeli government to allow the entry of those refugees from Yarmouk refugee camp in Damascus, which came under repeated military strikes.
However, an official statement by the office of Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday said that Israel did not and would never accept entry of those refugees.
Abbas last month said that he was prepared to receive those refugees, who were caught in the middle of the ongoing internal fighting in Syria, and asked the UN to help in organizing their crossing into the West Bank.
Around one thousand Palestinian refugees were killed in the civil war in that Arab country that has been raging for almost two years. Around half a million Palestinian refugees live in Syria.

Three more Palestinian refugees killed in Syria
The action group for the Palestinians in Syria said three Palestinian refugees were killed on Monday by Syrian regime forces in refugee camps. The action group stated that the three Palestinian civilians were killed in Syrian gunfire and shelling in the refugee camps of Al-Yarmouk and Darah.
The group added that armed clashes took place on Monday morning at the entrances to Al-Yarmouk camp, noting that some Palestinian families returned to the camp after they failed to find safe havens or better places to stay in.
In a related incident, a Palestinian medical delegation led by health minister Basem Naim left Gaza on Monday on their way to the Syrian-Turkish borders to provide medical assistance to the wounded Palestinians and Syrians.
Naim told the Palestinian information center (PIC) that the delegation is composed on eight doctors leaving on a humanitarian mission on behalf of the Palestinian people to help alleviate the suffering of the Syrian and Palestinian refugees.

“We have called for a political solution to the Syrian crisis that would enable the Syrian people to meet their aspirations and demands,” the Hamas official said.
“We believe that respecting the peoples’ will lead to building strong countries,” he said, adding that Hamas was never a party in the internal Syrian conflict.
Hamdan warned that targeting Palestinian refugee camps would entail loss on those behind it in addition to inflicting harm to the Palestinians who already suffer from the “Zionist occupation”.
