The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) demolished late Tuesday a primary school east of the southern West Bank province of Bethlehem.
Local sources affirmed to the PIC reporter that IOF soldiers broke into Jib al-Zayyib area to the east of Bethlehem city, accompanied by a number of bulldozers, and started the demolition of a primary school under the pretext of being built without “Israeli permit.”
Local residents tried to prevent the demolition, however; Israeli forces prevented them from approaching the area.
The demolition process came only few hours before the start of the new school year in Palestine.
Two days ago, Israeli authorities had issued a stop-work notification against the school before being demolished on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, Israeli police stationed at the gates leading to Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, in Jerusalem’s Old City, prevented the entry of textbooks destined for three Palestinian schools located inside the Muslim holy compound.
The books were going to two high schools and a kindergarten.
The police prevented the entry of the books because they bore the logo of the Palestinian Authority.
The Palestinian school year starts on Wednesday.
Most Palestinian schools in East Jerusalem teach the Palestinian curriculum. The Israel Ministry of Education, run by right-wing extremist Naftali Bennet, is trying to ban use of Palestinian books in occupied Jerusalem and replace them with Israeli-issued textbooks, which Palestinians strongly oppose because the Israeli books distort and misrepresent Palestinian history and culture.
According to WAFA, the West Jerusalem Israeli municipality is also pressing East Jerusalem schools not to teach Palestinian curriculum by denying the schools that teach the Palestinian textbooks financial subsidies while granting those that teach the Israeli curriculum hefty portions of financial assistance.

The Israeli Occupation Authorities (IOA) on Tuesday afternoon served demolition notifications to a number of local residents in Ramallah under the pretext their buildings were built without “Israeli permit.”
Mayor of Silwad town affirmed that Israeli soldiers handed the residents demolition orders for industrial facilities, a house, and a school under the pretext of being built without permits.
According to Quds Press, the notified Salam School serves more than 400 students.

The Israeli occupation army on Tuesday renewed its intent to demolish al-Kaabneh school which was established by Arab Bedouins for their children a long time ago north of Jericho in the West Bank.
School principal Mahmoud al-Jarmi said that the Israeli army’s civil administration informed him once again of its intention to raze the school, stressing that the right to education is protected by the international law.
Principal Jarmi appealed to local and international educational organizations to intervene and help al-Kaabneh Bedouins to confront the arrogant and arbitrary measures pursued by Israel against them.
Al-Kaabneh Bedouin School is frequented by Palestinian students from various Bedouin hamlets located in Area C of the West Bank, which is under Israel’s control according to Oslo accords. It was already threatened with demolition by the Israeli army.
Located in a Bedouin community in the middle of the desert, 50 km north-east of Jerusalem, al-Kaabneh school is composed of six shipping containers. They provide the school’s students with little protection from heat or cold, and they lack proper sanitation facilities. The school has only one functioning toilet, offers no library or computer lab and has no schoolyard where children can play.
The demolition orders arise from an Israeli systematic policy that makes it very difficult for Palestinians to obtain permits for construction of schools, homes and other structures in much of the West Bank, according to the UNICEF.

nsnbc : The United Nations Relief and Works Agency in the Gaza Strip, Palestine, condemned in the strongest possible terms, the construction of tunnels underneath UNRWA operated schools as a violation of the agency’s neutrality.
In a statement released by UNRWA spokesman Christopher Gunness, the agency stated that on June 1, UNRWA discovered part of a tunnel that passes under two adjacent Agency schools in Maghazi camp in the Gaza Strip, namely the Maghazi Elementary Boys A&B School and the Maghazi Preparatory Boys School. The schools are located on the same premises.
The discovery was reportedly made during the summer vacation, at a time when the schools are empty, and in the course of work related to the construction of an extension of one of the buildings. The agency further stated that:
“Following a thorough inspection of the site, UNRWA can confirm that the tunnel has no entry or exit points on the premises nor is it connected to the schools or other buildings in any way.
UNRWA condemns the existence of such tunnels in the strongest possible terms. It is unacceptable that students and staff are placed at risk in such a way. The construction and presence of tunnels under UN premises are incompatible with the respect of privileges and immunities owed to the United Nations under applicable international law, which provides that UN premises shall be inviolable. The sanctity and neutrality of UN premises must be preserved at all times.
UNRWA has robustly intervened and protested to Hamas in Gaza. It has also informed them that the Agency intends to seal the tunnel under its premises, as an immediate priority. We will not allow any students or staff into the building until the issue is resolved.
The Agency again demands that all parties respect the neutrality and inviolability of United Nations premises at all times. Furthermore we demand they desist from any activities or conduct that put beneficiaries and staff at risk and undermine the ability of UN staff to provide assistance to Palestine refugees in safety and security.”
The discovery of the tunnels puts into perspective incidents like the Israeli shelling of one of its schools that was sheltering hundreds of displaced Palestinians in the Gaza Strip in July 2014, after Hamas fighters were observed launching rockets from the vicinity of the school. Moreover, UNRWA discovered rockets made by Hamas’ armed wing – the Qassam Brigades – between to other UNWRA schools that at the time accommodated 1,500 internally displaced persons. UNRWA, in 2014, condemned Israel’s shelling of the school as unequivocally as it condemns the construction of tunnels under school premises.

The Palestinian ministry of education has expressed its rejection of Israeli intents to Judaize school curriculums in east Jerusalem and impose them on the Palestinian students at the pretext of improving the quality of education.
In a press release on Sunday, the ministry warned against the repercussions and dangers of this Israeli Judaization plan, saying it reflected further the mentality of the occupation and its repressive and racist policies that violate all international laws and norms.
The ministry emphasized that it would employ all possible means to confront such Israeli plans and protect the national identity of education in Jerusalem.
It appealed to all concerned legal, human rights and media institutions to expose Israel’s violations against the Palestinian educational sector in Jerusalem and make efforts to protect and defend the Palestinian educational process.
It also called for countering Israel’s attempts to change the Palestinian national identity in the holy city.
The Israeli cabinet on Sunday approved a five-year plan to force Palestinian schools in east Jerusalem to switch from their curriculums to the Israeli ones, as proposed by its education minister Naftali Bennett and Jerusalem affairs and heritage minister Zeev Elkin.
