Mohammad Abu al-Hummus, a member of the Follow-Up Committee in al-‘Isawiya village, in occupied East Jerusalem, said the soldiers injured, throughout the day Monday, several Palestinian schoolchildren, in the village.
The Wadi Hilweh Information Center in Silwan (Silwanic), quoted Abu al-Hummus stating that the soldiers invaded the Schools Street, in al-‘Isawiya, and fired many gas bombs, concussion grenades, and rubber-coated steel bullets, wounding ten children, 9 to 16 years of age.
The wounded children were moved to several hospitals and clinics, in the town and in Jerusalem, suffering various wounds, mainly to the face, limbs and abdomen.
Abu al-Hummus added that one of the wounded children was later transferred from al-Makassed Hospital to Shaare Tzedek Medical center, due to the seriousness of his condition.
The families in the town, including the students’ parents committee, decided to suspend classes in all schools in the town until further notice, demanding an end to Israel’s ongoing military invasions, especially since the beginning of the new school year, and the army’s provocative acts targeting the students.
Abu al-Hummus denounced the ongoing and escalating invasions, and called on the international community to intervene, especially since the soldiers constantly attack the students, and fire gas bombs, concussion grenades and rubber-coated steel bullets.
The residents said that the invasions are carried out under several vague Israeli allegations, and only aim at placing further challenges and difficulties in the daily lives of the residents, especially the children.

The Parents Committee in the Israeli occupied Jerusalem neighborhood of al-Issawiya suspended on Tuesday classes in all schools to protest Israeli police brutality against schoolchildren.
The Parents Committee decided in a meeting on Monday night to suspend classes in all schools starting Tuesday and until further notice.
The parents say police regularly attack schoolchildren when they leave their classrooms. The latest such assault occurred on Monday when police fired tear gas and rubber-coated metal bullets at students from a short distance causing critical injuries, one of them reported in critical condition as he underwent a surgery to remove his spleen.
The committee decided to step up protest moves in response to Israeli police harassment and brutality.
Israeli police often crack down on Palestinian schoolchildren and search their schoolbags when they are on their way to/back from school, swelling tension in the area.

Israeli Internal Security Agency Shin Bet has the power to reject appointment or dismiss Arab teachers at Arab schools, Israeli Ynet News has reported.
According to Days of Palestine, a former official at the Israeli Ministry of Education, Emmanuel Koplovich, told Ynet News that Shin Bet has rejected the appointment of many qualified teachers.
“Shin Bet was involved in everything regarding recruitment for education positions,” confirmed the former head of the agency, Knesset member Yacob Berri. “It is still active in Arab schools to this day.”
The news website revealed that Shin Bet targeted the Arab teachers in cooperation with the ministry. Teachers did not know why they were dismissed or not accepted for a position.
It also revealed that some of the teachers were not involved in any political activities, but were rejected because of the political activities of one of their relatives.
According to the reports, information about Arab teachers and head teachers was circulated among different government institutions, mainly the education ministry and the Prime Minister’s office.
The Director of Adalah Centre for Arab Minority Rights in Israel, Hassan Jabareen, said that Shin Bet’s interference in the recruitment and dismissal of Arab teachers and head teachers has been known for a long time in the Arab community.
Such actions reiterates the hostility of the Israeli Education Ministry towards the country’s Arab citizens, who make up a fifth of the population.
“The Shin Bet has an important role,” insisted the former Director General of the Ministry of Education, Samson Shoshani. “Its mission is to make sure than no oppression is practiced against anyone.”
He added: “We are not against extremist teachers, but against extremist people in regard to loyalty to the state.”

The University's students council said in a press statement on Friday evening that the strike will continue until all of the students' demands are met.
The council said, "We were hoping that our dear university would invite us to discuss the demands put forward instead of responding by statements accusing us of refusing to dialogue with the administration."
The demands announced by the students council include reducing the fees of certain courses, improving the health insurance services, cancelling the fees of urgent documents, activating academic excellence grants, and installing air conditioners in the university halls.

Israeli authorities decided to summon an elementary school principal in the city of Umm al-Fahm in 1948 Occupied Palestine after the school began the current academic year with songs praising the State of Palestine. The lyrics included the phrase: "We are Palestinians and the capital of Palestine is Jerusalem."
Local sources in Umm al-Fahm reported that the Israeli extremist Im Tirtzu Movement sent a video tape to the Education Ministry and to Education Minister Naftali Bennett. It was decided to summon the principal for a hearing, and then to decide whether to take any disciplinary steps against her.
Senior Education Ministry officials spoke with the principal over the phone. The principal stated that she had been unaware of the plans to play the song. Nevertheless, the Education Ministry decided to summon her to a hearing in the coming days.
Political activists opined that summoning the school principal goes in line with Israeli political prosecution and incitement against the Palestinian community in Umm al-Fahm and other cities in 1948 Palestine.

Israeli occupation authorities have prohibiting Muslim children from playing in the courtyards surrounding Al-Aqsa Mosque.
A report by the Israeli TV Channel 7 said that orders were issued to police units at Al-Aqsa in occupied Jerusalem not to allow children to play with balls in the courtyards.
It also reported, according to Days of Palestine, that the Israeli Supreme Court issued an order banning Jerusalemite children from playing in Al-Aqsa courtyards.
The order was issued after complaints filed, about a month ago, by settlers who stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque and claimed to have seen children playing football around the schools.
According to the Supreme Court ruling, “ball games on Temple Mount [Al-Aqsa Mosque] are prohibited as it violates its sanctity.”
According to the Israeli police, the order is aimed primarily at the areas adjacent to the Islamic schools located in the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Jewish organisations have demanded that such practices be banned and that those found doing so be prosecuted or at least have their balls confiscated.
They claim that playing football “is a violation of the law regarding holy areas. The maximum punishment for this is seven years of imprisonment.”
They also claimed that such practices are considered “a desecration of a holy site and cause emotional distress” to the Jews storming the mosque.

The Israeli military siege imposed against more than a dozen Palestinian towns and villages northwest of Occupied Jerusalem continued Thursday for the third day in a row. The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs condemned the Israeli siege and said it critically affects daily life of some 70,000 civilians.
Israel imposed a blockade on the towns in retaliation for the shooting and killing of an Israeli border policeman and two security guards by a Palestinian from Beit Surik, one of 16 area towns affected by the army siege.
Israeli soldiers maintained presence at checkpoints set up at the entrances to towns that lead to a number of other towns, banning people under age of 35 from leaving or entering the area. The army also erected metal gates at the roads leading to these towns. Residents were forced to use alternative unpaved roads to reach their workplaces or health and education facilities.
The foreign ministry said in a statement that the Israeli siege affects all aspects of life in the towns, including closure of more than 50 schools while preventing people from getting their urgent necessities such as medicine.
The ministry said that the nightly Israeli army raids on the towns terrorize children and the local unarmed civilian population, in addition to damaging private property, describing them as collective punishment in violation of international law and a blatant violation of basic human rights.

The Israeli army continued, for the third consecutive day, the complete isolation of sixteen Palestinian villages, northwest of occupied Jerusalem, in addition to closing various roads and continuing the state of curfew, imprisoning the villages in their homes, and causing the closure of fifty schools.
The soldiers shut all roads leading to the villages, especially the “Tunnel Road” leading to Biddu village, Beit Anan – Beit Liqya road, in addition to all roads linking the villages with each other.
The army also imposed curfew in the sixteen villages, imprisoning the Palestinians in their homes, and resulting in closing fifty schools, providing education for more than 4000 students.
The soldiers also invaded, violently searched and occupied several homes, after forcing the families out from many homes in Biddu and Beit Surik, and informed some families of their intention to remain in their properties indefinitely.
In addition, the army issued many demolition orders targeting homes, in addition to halting the construction of many other homes.
The army also prevented ambulances and journalists from entering the isolated villages, and fully surrounded Beit Iksa.
Furthermore, the soldiers continued the violent and extensive searches of homes in Beit Surik town, which is also under curfew, and distributed leaflets, threatening to kill the Palestinians who leave their homes, or “violate the army’s commands and directives.”
The latest Israeli violations are acts of collective punishment against thousands of Palestinians in the aftermath of the fatal shooting, which was carried out by Nimir Mahmoud Jamal, 37, who opened fire, on Tuesday morning, on a group of Israeli Border Police officers, and armed security guards, killing three and wounding a fourth at the main entrance of Har Hadar illegal Israeli colony.
Nimir was then shot and killed by the remaining Israeli border guards at the entrance of the settlement colony.
